A horrific statistic that appeared in the Times this weekend. Apparently: 30% of all supermarket purchases go direct into the bin (?! surely) at a cost of £460 per year per person. It smacks of a world gone crazy when what we put into ourselves counts for so little….. And what we deprive others of in the resources taken to make it and get it into our shopping bags….
Not to mention the carbon emissions of all that food and production.
I am guilty of throwing out some, though thanks to composting and chickens, much less than we might. Reminds me that so much of life is about the little things.
